How to Repair Potholes with Cold Asphalt Patching Material?

Pothole is a common road harzard which can damage the road base and traffic safety. Untreated potholes will become bigger by continued traffic action. Generally there are three methods: Throw-and-roll repair, semi-permanent repair, spray-injection repair. Here will introduce the semi-permanent repair with cold mix asphalt.

Before the work, place traffic control device to keep the construction safety.

1. Cutting the pothole into regular shape, mainly a square cube based on the pothole depth. This will assure the vertical sides of the repair are in sound pavement. The common device is hand-held pavement saw or road cutting machines.

4.  Clean the hole. Remove water and debris from the hole.
5. Compact the asphalt. Use vibratory roller or plate compactor to compact the patch.
